The panta rhei project

The panta rhei project aims at supporting community of practice in technical domains by providing a web-based document-centred discussion and assessment space. The project aims at integrating existing knowledge repositories of a user community with easy-to-use online discussion and assessment facilities. Displayed documents are read only, but users can input their opinions, questions, and answers via the forum and annotation (as well as rating and tagging) facilities. Depending on the functionality of the repository, the system provides different levels of services: Any web-scalable content can be displayed, but e.g. content marked up in OMDoc facilitates more semantic services.

Applications

The project supports three scenarios:

  • Education: Exploration of lecture material --- focus on question+answer on homework and assignments, generation of personalized course material => E-Learning Environment
  • Research: Exploration of publication --- request and editing of complementary information for technical/ mathematical results, Generation of personalized papers and slides
  • Industry: Exploration of technical documents --- generation of various output documents from a unique content commons, e.g. user manuals, requirements specification, etc.

The panta rhei framework

We are currently re-implementing the panta-rhei system in the p|j project.
